The Rosen Group has handled public relations programs for the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA), the national trade association of America’s wind industry, including state initiatives, policy efforts, special events and conferences, including AWEA WINDPOWER Conference & Exhibition, growing AWEA’s audience impressions by more than 475% and consistently garnered placements in top-tier consumer, trade and business media.

Major successes include:

2009 Green Inaugural Ball: The 2009 Green Inaugural Ball, co-hosted by AWEA, was held in celebration of President Barack Obama’s inauguration. Coverage of the event appeared in over 250 outlets, including New York Times, Huffington Post, Wall Street Journal, USA Today, and Good Morning America, with an audience of 395 million.

AWEA’s Wind Power Finance Workshop: In April 2011, AWEA released the 2010 Wind Industry Annual Market Report during the association’s Wind Power Finance Workshop in New York City. The Rosen Group leveraged the report to gather a dozen key energy reporters for a roundtable discussion with wind energy industry leaders. Attendees included reporters from Associated Press, AOL Energy, ClimateWire, Dow Jones, MarketWatch, Reuters, Time and Bloomberg News. Coverage of the Finance Workshop and the Annual Market Report appeared in more than 90 outlets reaching an audience of over 51 million.

WindMade: On Global Wind Day 2011 (June 15), WindMade™, the first global consumer label for companies using wind energy, was presented to the U.S. market by founding partners, including AWEA, WindMade, Vestas and GWEC. The Rosen Group coordinated an exclusive breakfast at New York City’s Mandarin Oriental for participating media, including New York Times, Time, CNN Money, Financial Times, AOL Energy, Good Housekeeping, and MarketWatch. Resulting coverage reached an audience of more than 62 million.

State Based Campaigns: Places like Iowa and Wisconsin have become hotbeds for discussion on wind energy, and The Rosen Group coordinated targeted outreach in both states to gain favorable coverage of wind energy and its benefits. In Wisconsin, TRG garnered coverage in outlets such as Reuters, Associated Press, Forbes, and the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel to counter attacks from Gov. Scott Walker. In Iowa, TRG organized outreach surrounding events such as the Ames Straw Poll and AWEA’s Small and Community WINDPOWER event, with resulting coverage appearing in New York Times, Des Moines Register, Quad-City Times and Fox News Channel. Coverage in both states reached a combined audience of about 75 million.
